They are also convinced that\u00a0no\u00a0one should take advantage of someone.\u00a0You can spot both traits\u00a0when you\u00a0observe the way Swedes administer\u00a0the way they wait\u00a0in line.<\/p>\n<p>(Find translations and useful Swedish vocabulary in the bottom of this post.)<\/p>\n<h2>Queuing in Sweden<\/h2>\n<p>Whenever you enter a store , look for the number dispenser. If you miss it, things can go wrong&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>You enter a\u00a0place\u00a0where you get\u00a0service behind the counter, like\u00a0at the car-workshop, hospital or police station, pharmacy or even bank. You step ahead to\u00a0the service desk. A friendly Swede says <em>hejd\u00e5<\/em> to a previous customer and\u00a0pushes a button under\u00a0the desk. You hear a buzzing noise and notice a digital display on the wall, two figures in red, showing a two digit number, say 38. Just as you decide to walk back to get your ticket, a new &#8211; much more skilled &#8211;\u00a0customer comes in and and pulls a ticket. The ticket with the number\u00a038, the one you missed. \u00a0The person\u00a0recognizes your\u00a0desperation when you pull the 39 right after him and totally understands your\u00a0mistake but pretends not to. Instead he walks straight to the desk and orders a battery change for his wrist watch.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>No customer queuing chaos, due\u00a0to the <em>nummerlapp<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Calm Swedes<\/h3>\n<p>Even when it&#8217;s a long time to wait in line, Swedes don&#8217;t moan or complain. They even keep their mouth shut and eyebrows down when\u00a0a slow\u00a0sales assistant is trying to find out how to process\u00a0a credit card payment from a Sweden visitor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So, next time you enter a Swedish pharmacy or bank, look out for the ticket dispenser right away!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Swedes like it when things are tidy and in organized.
