Swedes\u00a0love to get out in the nature, hiking, skiing, swimming or sunbathing on the grass. To make those outdoor experiences as pleasant as possible, Swedes commonly understand that it’s better to preserve the beautiful Swedish nature and fight everything that could possible have a negative impact on it.<\/p>\n

Buy things that are good for the nature<\/h2>\n

Before a Swede makes a purchase, they carefully check packages for labels that indicate that\u00a0the product has been produced under environmentally friendly conditions.<\/p>\n

Swedes have a built in must-buy reflex when being presented to products\u00a0that are labelled “bra f\u00f6r milj\u00f6n<\/em>”\u00a0(good for the environment) or contains the word “milj\u00e4v\u00e4nlig”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In Sweden, these environment-labels are very important for any purchase decision.\u00a0They successfully give Swedes a good conscious and the feeling they have actively contributed to a better world. Those environment labels are almost as appealing to Swedes as a sign that says “rea”<\/em>, sales.<\/p>\n

Recycle in the milj\u00f6hus<\/em><\/h2>\n

To throw away your garbage you have to go to a little shed outside your apartment building, it’s called the milj\u00f6hus<\/em>, literally “environment house”. In there you find open containers for different types of garbage:\u00a0clear glass,\u00a0colored glass, plastic, card board, metal, food waste, batteries, light bulbs, radioactive waste and one universal container for everything else.<\/p>

These containers are open, so you can easily find the milj\u00f6hus<\/em>\u00a0by following smell of rotten garbage. Open containers\u00a0also offer a great way\u00a0for\u00a0you if you want to\u00a0improve your\u00a0throwing techniques.<\/p>\n

Sorting household waste in Sweden gives you bragging rights<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

To\u00a0correctly\u00a0recycle, some Swedes consider it important to clean their plastic yoghurt mug before they\u00a0throw it away. That’s probably\u00a0the most committed\u00a0way anyone can contribute\u00a0to environmental preservation, isn’t it?<\/p>\n
